Broken Creek
About:
Folk duo Broken Creek create reimagined Australiana on banjo, guitar, fiddle and voice, exploring stories from Australia’s past and present. They perform original songs about small-town Australia, tunes inspired by the land and subversive interpretations of post-colonial bushballads.
A truly local experience, Broken Creek is named after the creek that vocalist and fiddler Erin Heycox grew up near (40 mins from Echuca Moama), and their love for traditional folk music oozes through every performance. They’ve shared their stories with audiences at Woodford Folk Festival, Top End Folk Festival, Cygnet Folk Festival and CresFest. They have also supported many beloved Australian musicians including Fanny Lumsden, Amber Lawrence, The Bushwhackers and the Weeping Willows.
Broken Creek will be performing their immersive musical storytelling concert Shinbone Alley in the Aquatic Reserve bushland on Saturday morning. Through original compositions and reimagined folk songs, the duo will explore how music can carry memory, honour land and spark connection.
